I received a letter in the mail that United Healthcare Community Plan is no longer going to be available as of January 1, 2018. What do I need to do to choose another plan?

What is AmeriHealth Caritas Delaware?

AmeriHealth Caritas Delaware Inc. is a managed care organization and a member of the AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies. We deliver care to people covered by publicly funded programs, including Medicaid, Medicare, and state Children's Health Insurance Programs.

What if I do not choose a plan?

The Health Benefits Manager can help you choose a plan. If you do not choose a plan, the state will select one for you.

What are the plans I can choose from?

There are two plans available. One is Highmark Delaware Health Options. The other is our health plan, AmeriHealth Caritas Delaware. You will need to contact your Health Benefits Manager to choose your plan. The manager can be reached at 1-800-996-9969.

I am interested in enrolling in AmeriHealth Caritas Delaware. How and when can I enroll?

If I enroll with AmeriHealth Caritas Delaware, will I lose my regular Medicaid benefits?

No. You will keep all of the same Medicaid benefits that you're currently eligible for today.

Will my family be on different managed care organization (MCO) plans or are we able to stay on the same plan?

Your family can choose to be on one health plan or split up between plans. Although, each person can only be a member of one health plan.

What if I want to change my selected or assigned MCO?

New members can change health plans during the first 90 calendar days following the date of their enrollment. Members can also change plans during the annual open enrollment period. If you want to change your health plan, contact your Health Benefits Manager. The manager can be reached at 1-800-996-9969.

Can I still join if I also have Medicare?

Yes. Members may be eligible for both Medicaid and Medicare, depending on income level. The state determines your eligibility.

What will I receive as a new member?

Once you are enrolled with AmeriHealth Caritas Delaware, you will receive a Welcome Kit. The information in this kit tells you about our plan, benefits, and services. The kit will include the member handbook and member ID card. It will also have information on how to change your primary care provider.

Does my doctor participate with AmeriHealth Caritas Delaware? Is my doctor on your plan? Does my doctor participate in your network?

We are actively enrolling providers within your area. Your provider may be in the process of being enrolled. You can also use find a provider to search for providers already in our network.

Will I be able to keep my current services before my plan changes?

You will have coverage through your existing plan through December 31, 2017. Starting January 1, 2018, services will be covered under your new plan selection.

Will my benefits change?

No. You will not lose any of your current benefits. In fact, you may be eligible for additional benefits through AmeriHealth Caritas Delaware.
